I like it with the shell. The one thing I'm not too big on is that bug guard on the front.

One of the fasteners on it its starting to come loose, I may be forced to remove it at some point

It really depends on what use you have for your truck. If you need space, take off the topper. If you want sheltered area, leave it on. Off tends to improve gas mileage. On is a bit more rear drag. It is all academic. Use it as you think it will serve your purposes best.

Looks fine without it, but with the shell you can leave things on your truck bed and wont be stolen unless they break the window. That has always been an issue that makes me to step off from pickups. I really like Suburbans because well the past model was the same thing as the pickup even in looks, but with the complete body.
